Rain, Rain, Rain

Oh, how we love the rainy days on the farm.  I don't think there's a nicer sound than rain on a tin roof.

Living on the farm we are dependent on Mother Nature. We need rain at the right time and we need sunshine at the right time.  Us, our crops and our livestock all depend on rain.

So far this year we have had 215mm (8 1/2" in the old measurements).  We are fortunate as there are other areas that haven't had that much.  We have survived on less but we are praying for a wet Spring.

One of our favourite activities to do on a rainy day is to go and jump in mud puddles. Regardless of the weather conditions, Winter or Summer my daughter loves to get wet and muddy.

It's all good clean fun, clothes and bodies wash but you can't wash away that smile.

Enjoy

  2. I love the sound of rain on a tin roof. It's a beautiful noise! It is very dry here in suburban Brisbane, the grass is brown and crunchy and we are hoping for rain too. Love the photo of your daughter, what fun playing in the rain and mud is! Meg:)

  3. We are in desperate need of rain Ann. Last night we had a bit of a storm but not much rain, everything is super dry. I love that first photo of the rain pattering into the puddle (and the last photo!).

  4. I know how much the area was needing followup rain so I am glad you got some. Here's hoping there are no late frosts to stop the crops from becoming lush.
We on the other hand haven't had any rain since Cyclone Debbie. It is hot, brown and crunchy. Thankfully we have a bore and this is keeping my veg garden going. The heat is sending the lettuce to bolt. Am bit of rain to water and take the temps down a little would be most appreciated.

    1. Here's hoping Jane that the rains come soon. At least you have the bore to give your garden a bit of green.
